In a move aimed at enhancing urban infrastructure, Jharkhand’s Chief Minister Hemant Soren has given the green light to three major road projects. These projects are designed to streamline traffic and modernize transport systems in Ranchi and other key cities throughout the state.
The Principal Secretary of the Road Construction Department, Sunil Kumar, provided a detailed overview of the proposed projects to the Chief Minister.
The approved projects include:
* **An Elevated Flyover Connecting Argora Chowk, Kathal Mor, and Chapu Toli:** This 1.75-kilometer-long flyover will feature a 10-meter-wide elevated section and a 7-meter-wide road beneath. The design incorporates drainage systems, utility ducts, and aesthetic enhancements for the road below. The flyover will be equipped with complete lighting and noise barriers, designed to alleviate traffic bottlenecks between Argora and Chapu Toli.
* **A Flyover from Karamtoli to Morabadi and Science City, Along with a Four-Lane Road Extension to the Ring Road:** Spanning 2.2 kilometers, the flyover will extend from Karamtol Chowk to Science City, with a width of 10 meters. The four-lane road extending from Science City to the Ring Road will be over 5 kilometers. This project aims to significantly reduce congestion on the capital’s busiest roads.
* **An Alternative Four-Lane Road from Ranchi Railway Station to the Airport:** This includes a 4.7-kilometer-long road complemented by an 800-meter elevated section. The design incorporates pedestrian footpaths, covered cycle tracks, solar-powered lighting, a greenfield corridor with gazebos, seating areas, and essential amenities. This new route will provide rapid access to the airport, benefiting residents in Hatia, Doranda, Hinoo, and the HEC area.
The Chief Minister has mandated the speedy preparation of Detailed Project Reports and the expeditious execution of these projects. He also stressed the importance of initiating similar traffic improvement initiatives in other major cities.
Further consideration will be given to additional proposals, such as a flyover connecting Harmu Mukti Dham to Radisson Blu and another over the Swarnarekha River, from Hinoo Bridge to Jagannathpur.
Plans are also in the works to address traffic concerns in cities like Jamshedpur, Daltonganj, and others. Projects include a 2.54-kilometer-long flyover in Jamshedpur-Sakchi, and the Daltonganj-Garhwa Alternative Corridor, which is a circular elevated corridor to balance traffic. Improvements are also planned for NHAI transition points, with a focus on safety and better junctions, particularly in areas like Ramgarh, Daltonganj, and Barkakana.
These infrastructure projects are intended to not only alleviate traffic congestion but also to stimulate job creation, attract investment, and boost industrial growth. The Chief Minister has emphasized the need for timely execution and regular oversight, positioning these projects as critical for Jharkhand’s advancement and modernization.
