In a recent address to Deputy Commissioners via video conference, Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari set a deadline for the completion of auctions for all commercial sand ghats in Jharkhand by the first half of September. She highlighted the importance of understanding the new sand policy to ensure a transparent and technically sound auction process. Training sessions for Deputy Commissioners and mining officials were suggested to provide a strong foundation. The primary goal is to empower Deputy Commissioners to conduct the auctions effectively. The new policy seeks to provide affordable sand to consumers, curb illegal sand trade, and limit the import of sand from other states. The meeting also involved discussions with Khan Secretary Arwa Rajkamal and Khan Director Rahul Sinha, who emphasized the crucial role of Deputy Commissioners in the sand ghat auction process, urging them to take it seriously and conduct it with thorough preparation.
