In a fiery address during the monsoon session of the Jharkhand Assembly, Chief Minister Hemant Soren launched a scathing attack on the central government, accusing them of manipulating the legal system and controlling constitutional bodies. He claimed that the opposition is constantly seeking to hinder the government’s work, suggesting that laws are being dictated by them.
Soren stated that the current state government prioritizes the welfare of the people, unlike opposition-led governments in other states, where the conditions of tribal communities and minorities are dire. He cited the situation in Ladakh, where he believes the government has undermined the work of Sonam Wangchuk, despite his contributions to the region.
He also raised concerns about proposed amendments to laws, specifically those related to imprisonment and the loss of a seat. Soren suggested that these amendments serve a hidden agenda and emphasized the significance of every vote. He alleged that the Election Commission has been involved in deleting votes and making laws that prevent action against election commissioners. Furthermore, he criticized the government for its superficial actions and event management tactics, citing the cancellation of a program for Birsa Munda’s birth anniversary.
Soren highlighted the wealth generated from Jharkhand’s mineral resources, which have benefited others while leaving the state with environmental and health issues. He claimed that the Prime Minister’s Office monitors the auction of key resources and criticized the way mining leases are allocated. Soren argued that Jharkhand is bearing the brunt of development, urging for a long-term action plan.
He further criticized the exploitation of “RIMS Two” for political gain, accusing the opposition of dirty politics and conspiracy. He also accused them of using money to control constitutional institutions and creating fake political parties.
Soren concluded by emphasizing the resilience of Jharkhand and the need for positive political cooperation. He questioned the opposition’s motives, whether they aim to make the country a world leader or enrich themselves and their business partners. He also mentioned that the Jharkhand Assembly has proposed awarding the Bharat Ratna to Dishom Guru Shibu Soren.
