At the conclusion of the monsoon session, Jharkhand’s Chief Minister, Hemant Soren, launched a scathing attack on the central government, accusing them of manipulating legal and constitutional processes to hinder the state’s progress. He asserted that several constitutional bodies are essentially under the government’s control, and they are using various tactics to undermine the state government.
Soren highlighted that the state government is committed to working for the betterment of all citizens, particularly the marginalized communities. He drew a comparison between the current state government and the opposition-led governments in other states, questioning the conditions of tribals and minorities in those areas. Citing the example of Ladakh, he criticized the central government’s approach to Somon Wangchu, despite his work.
The Chief Minister also raised concerns about proposed amendments, questioning their motives and implications. He emphasized the significance of every vote in the electoral process, citing instances of electoral malpractices. He also pointed out the lack of action against election commissioners while judges face potential impeachment.
Soren accused the opposition of engaging in superficial actions, highlighting the cancellation of an event and questioning the progress of the Prime Minister’s work plans. He also alleged that the state’s mineral wealth has enriched a select few, while the state has suffered as a result.
He also mentioned that the Prime Minister’s Office monitors the auctioning of mines and alleged that there’s a focus on mining, and less on other development. He stated that the political parties are exploiting the RIMS Two project. He said that the opposition has been manipulating constitutional institutions and creating fraudulent political parties, especially in Gujarat. He concluded by emphasizing Jharkhand’s resilience and its vision for the future, urging the opposition to collaborate with the government for the state’s betterment and questioned the opposition’s true goals.
