Jharkhand Bridge Washes Away in Torrential Rain, Stranding Truck

Intense rainfall in Jharkhand caused the collapse of a bridge over the Banai River, trapping a truck in the middle. The bridge, which connected Torpa-Simdega road in Khunti district, crumbled due to rising water levels and erosion. The incident was captured on video. A red alert has been issued for multiple districts, including Ranchi, due to the ongoing heavy downpour. The driver’s immediate reaction in applying brakes saved the truck from falling into the river. Rescue operations are underway to remove the vehicle. Schools were closed in several districts, including Ranchi, as a precaution against the adverse weather. The weather department has warned of continued heavy rain and lightning, advising farmers to avoid agricultural activities in the affected areas.
