Jharkhand Assembly Pays Homage to Shibu Soren, Ramdas Soren, and Other Leaders

The Jharkhand Assembly commenced its monsoon session with a solemn tribute to several departed figures, including Dishom Guru Shibu Soren and former Education Minister Ramdas Soren. Assembly Speaker Rabindranath Mahto addressed the house, reflecting on the recent loss of prominent individuals such as Dishom Guru, Ramdas Soren, and former Governor Satyapal Malik. Mahto emphasized that the passing of Dishom Guru signified the end of an era, but his political, social, and cultural contributions would continue to inspire Jharkhand’s progress. He acknowledged the demise of Shibu Soren, former Chief Minister and founder of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, but highlighted the enduring legacy of the Jharkhand movement. The Speaker noted that Dishom Guru was a significant figure in Jharkhandi identity and culture. He established the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha in 1972, which later worked for the construction and development of Jharkhand. It is essential to understand the broader context of the Jharkhand statehood movement to comprehend his significance. Mahto added that he saw Dishom Guru as a proponent of an integrated, independent, and development-focused Jharkhand rooted in Jharkhandi culture, advocating for inclusive development, coexistence, and nature. Ramdas Soren, a man of easygoing and social personality, was also remembered. The Assembly recognized Group Captain D.K. Parulkar, a hero of the 1971 India-Pakistan war, Padma Shri Vinod Kumar Pasayat, a renowned playwright, poet, and lyricist, Satyapal Malik, former Governor of Goa, Bihar, Meghalaya and Jammu and Kashmir and former Rajya Sabha MP, and senior journalist Harinarayan Singh. The House also paid respects to those who died in recent cloudbursts in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. The Speaker adjourned the proceedings until Monday morning.
