The BJP’s recent appointment of Aditya Sahu as the working president in Jharkhand has sparked controversy and emotional reactions. Congress Minister Irfan Ansari has publicly expressed his disappointment and concern over the treatment of senior BJP leader CP Singh. Ansari’s comments came in the form of a heartfelt letter addressed to Singh, highlighting the perceived lack of respect shown to him within the party.
The appointment of Aditya Sahu, a member of the Other Backward Classes (OBC), is seen by some as a strategic move by the BJP. However, it has also prompted questions about the position of other prominent leaders, such as CP Singh. Ansari’s letter suggests that Singh has not received the recognition he deserves, pointing to his exclusion from key leadership positions.
In his letter, Ansari recounts his long-standing relationship with CP Singh, emphasizing the guidance and support he has received over the years. He expressed his sadness at seeing Singh allegedly marginalized within the BJP, suggesting that his upper-caste background may be a factor.
Ansari directly questioned whether the BJP is intentionally sidelining upper-caste leaders in Jharkhand. He cited instances where Singh was overlooked for significant roles, such as Leader of the Opposition and State President. Ansari’s open letter conveys his belief that Singh is being deliberately neglected, and he suggests that Singh should reconsider his association with the BJP.
Ansari offered a veiled invitation for Singh to join the Congress, stating that where respect is absent, there is no reason to stay. He emphasized his deep respect for Singh, considering his alleged mistreatment an insult to Jharkhand’s politics. The letter reflects the complex dynamics of political alliances, where personal relationships and respect can transcend party affiliations.
