A truck loaded with illegal sand caused a major incident in Ranchi, Jharkhand, ramming into the vehicle of the Namkum police station’s officer. The collision left Namkum’s officer-in-charge, Manoj Kumar, and constable Amit Kumar with serious injuries. Local residents quickly assisted in transporting the injured to a private hospital in Namkum. Due to the severity of their injuries, they were later moved to Orchid Hospital in Ranchi.
The incident prompted a response from Ranchi district officials. SSP cum DIG Chandan Kumar Sinha visited Orchid Hospital to check on the injured officers. He spoke with the officer-in-charge to gather details about the event.
The incident occurred while the officer-in-charge was on patrol on the Ranchi-Tata road, near Gadke village, to oversee traffic management. A speeding truck, carrying illegal sand and approaching from Rampur, collided directly with the officer-in-charge’s vehicle. The impact overturned the police vehicle, severely injuring both the officer-in-charge and a constable. The truck involved in the collision also overturned, and the driver fled the scene.
The injured officers were taken to a private hospital in Ranchi for treatment, where the officer-in-charge received more than ten stitches for a serious head injury. The incident in the Namkum area follows a previous incident at the Lapung police station, where the police were attacked while intervening in a land dispute. The Lapung police station in-charge, Santosh Kumar Yadav, and three other officers sustained serious injuries in that attack.
