The Ghurti Rath Yatra, marking the return of Lord Jagannath, is set to take place on July 6, 2025. Lord Jagannath, accompanied by his siblings Balabhadra and Subhadra, will journey back to the main temple from Mausi Badi. This return journey, known as Ghurti Rath Yatra, follows the initial Rath Yatra on June 27th when the deities embarked on a nine-day stay. The pulling of the chariot’s ropes is a major event, drawing thousands of devotees.
The Ranchi district administration has finalized arrangements for the event. Additional security personnel have been deployed anticipating the large crowds. Surveillance using CCTV and drones will be in effect throughout the fairgrounds. The Ghurti Rath Yatra will also signify the end of the fair. Rituals at Mausi Badi commenced at 5 AM this morning. Darshan will cease at Mausi Badi around 2:50 PM, followed by the procession of the deities to the chariot. The Rath Yatra’s commencement towards the main temple is scheduled for 4 PM. By 6:00 PM, the deities are expected to have reached the main temple. Before this, a special viewing opportunity for women on the chariot has been arranged between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM. The installation of the deities within the main temple is planned by 7 PM today. Following this, a grand Maha Aarti will be performed, and the temple doors will be closed after offering special bhog. The Rath Yatra symbolizes devotion, tradition, and happiness associated with Lord Jagannath.
