As the vote counting for the Ghatsila Assembly seat in East Singhbhum reaches its final stages, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) nominee Somesh Chandra Soren has opened up a substantial lead. In the 17th round of counting, Soren has amassed 89,251 votes, positioning him firmly in the lead. This places him far ahead of his nearest competitor, Babu Lal Soren from the BJP, whose campaign has struggled to gain momentum. The outcome strongly suggests a win for JMM, prompting widespread jubilation among party supporters. Babulal Soren of the BJP has secured 56,445 votes. Ramdas Murmu, representing the Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha, is in third place with 11,235 votes. The performance of independent and smaller party candidates has been notably weak, with many unlikely to secure their electoral deposits. Independent candidate Dr. Shrilal Kisku garnered 1,341 votes, and Panchanan Soren of the Bharat Adivasi Party received 901 votes. The NOTA option accounted for 2,458 votes, a figure higher than that of many individual contestants. The JMM’s strong showing in Ghatsila is a significant development in the region’s political landscape.
