A horrifying incident in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, highlights the dark side of superstition as a man murdered his friend in an attempt to gain power through tantric rituals. The victim was first given alcohol before being taken to a room and his throat was slit with a sharp weapon. The deceased has been identified as Ajay, also known as Jhatu, and the event took place in the Gadabasa area under the Golmuri police station. The accused, Sandeep Kumar, has been apprehended. Local residents alerted the police, who took the injured Ajay to Tata Medical Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The police investigation is ongoing. Sandeep Kumar had lured Ajay, his friend and colleague, to his house on a Monday evening under a pretense, plying him with alcohol before committing the heinous crime around midnight. Both Ajay and Sandeep were employed at the same shop and were known to be friends. Sandeep’s obsession with tantric practices led him to commit this act. This disturbing event has caused widespread alarm, especially given that it occurred during the sacred Navratri festival. This incident mirrors a previous case in Chatra district of Jharkhand, where a person was brutally murdered due to suspicion of being a witch doctor.
