Security forces at Tata Steel Works have successfully intercepted a large-scale theft operation, apprehending four individuals attempting to abscond with valuable copper cables. The swift response by company security prevented the illicit act, and the suspects were promptly handed over to local law enforcement.
Authorities confirmed that the incident took place late Saturday night, around 1 AM. Security patrols within the Tata Steel Works campus observed suspicious activity and apprehended the four young men as they were attempting to move approximately 690 kg of copper cable, concealed in large sacks. The estimated value of the stolen goods is reported to be close to INR 1.97 lakh.
The arrested individuals, aged between 24 and 26, hail from the Garib Nawaz Colony and Gaush Nagar localities in the Mango region.
According to company security, heightened vigilance and a quick response allowed them to establish a perimeter and catch the suspects in the act. The suspects were caught trying to escape with the substantial load of copper cables.
Bistupur police were alerted and arrived at the scene to take custody of the four accused for interrogation and subsequent legal processing. The proactive measures taken by Tata Steel’s security team have effectively averted a significant loss.
