Senior citizens residing in a Koderma old age home received crucial legal awareness and medical check-ups at a special camp. Organized by the District Legal Services Authority, Koderma, following directives from the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority, Ranchi, the event focused on empowering the elderly with knowledge of their rights and ensuring their health needs were met.
The program included a live online viewing of an inauguration ceremony in Ranchi. The Executive Chairman of the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority inaugurated the Mother Teresa Clinic at an old age home in Nagri, Ranchi, and oversaw the distribution of medical aid and benefits to senior citizens there.
Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority, Bal Krishna Tiwari, highlighted the societal imperative of respecting senior citizens. He affirmed the authority’s dedication to safeguarding the rights and fundamental freedoms of the elderly, stressing that respect for elders is foundational to personal and societal growth. He expressed pride in the authority’s role in honoring senior citizens.
Tiwari advised the youth to heed the wisdom of their elders and be mindful of their daily needs. Gautam Kumar, Secretary of the Authority, reiterated the commitment to offering free legal services to the elderly to uphold their rights. He assured that the authority would strive to provide maximum support for the welfare of the old age home residents.
Medical check-ups were conducted for all elderly individuals by the Koderma Health Department. The Principal District Judge directed healthcare professionals to maintain a routine health monitoring system for the seniors and to provide them with medications. He engaged with the residents, assessing their condition and inspecting the facility’s infrastructure and services.
As part of the initiative, the District Legal Services Authority and the District Administration collaborated to provide blankets, woolen clothes, sweets, and other essential supplies to the senior citizens, enhancing their comfort and well-being.
