The digital landscape is increasingly threatened by cyber fraud and criminal activity. No one is safe, as cybercriminals target everyone from regular citizens to high-ranking officials, often creating fake accounts or misusing identities.
A recent incident involved the official X account, @JmmJharkhand, of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), a key political party in Jharkhand’s government. The account was hacked, and inappropriate content was posted. Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who also serves as the central president of the JMM, confirmed the security breach.
CM Soren took to his official social media to report the hacking, classifying it as a serious cyber crime. He urged the @JharkhandPolice to launch an immediate investigation and take action. He also tagged @XCorpIndia and @GlobalAffairs, requesting their attention and assistance in securing the account. He voiced his expectation that those responsible for the attack would be swiftly brought to justice.
The hacking of the JMM’s social media account has become a major talking point, and all eyes are on how the state’s cyber cell and technical teams respond to this incident. This incident follows previous attempts by cybercriminals who created fake social media accounts of Jharkhand DGP Anurag Gupta and senior IAS officer Manju Nath Bhajantri in attempts to commit fraud.
