A female student from Jharkhand has accused a constable, stationed in Simdega, of exploiting her after promising marriage. The student, who hails from the Palamu district of Jharkhand, has filed a complaint with the Women’s Police Station in Ranchi.
The alleged events began with a friendship on Instagram in 2023 between the student and Constable Ramesh Bharti, who is currently posted in the wireless office in Simdega. The relationship evolved into a romantic one. The complaint details that the constable lured her to his flat in Ranchi under the pretense of marriage and engaged in physical relations.
When the woman requested marriage, the constable denied it and allegedly began to assault her. He then blocked her phone number to avoid her. The woman traveled to Simdega in June to meet him, only to be assaulted at a bus stand. She couldn’t report the assault then due to her father’s illness. The woman has now filed a formal complaint, seeking justice for the sexual exploitation and broken promise of marriage.
The police department is now investigating the complaint. They plan to apprehend the constable and conduct a thorough investigation, which will include questioning the accused for detailed information on the matter.
