Tension gripped Chakulia in East Singhbhum district after the body of a young man was discovered early Sunday morning near a prominent cow shelter. Sunil Kumar Mahto, identified as a local resident from Purana Bazar, was found deceased near the Dhyan Foundation’s gaushala located at the airstrip. The police have initiated a thorough investigation, suspecting foul play.
The discovery was made by Dr. Shalini Mishra, who runs the Dhyan Foundation, during her routine morning walk. She promptly reported the grim finding to the Chakulia police. Inspector Manoj Kumar Gupta and Station Officer Santosh Kumar, along with their team, swiftly reached the location, secured the perimeter, and began examining the scene.
Evidence collected from the site includes remnants of alcohol consumption, such as an empty bottle, alongside a mineral water bottle and food remnants. These items point towards a possible gathering before the incident. Authorities have noted significant head injuries on the victim, Sunil Kumar Mahto, suggesting he was attacked with a blunt object or a sharp instrument. The investigation is ongoing, with police exploring all potential motives and leads in the vicinity.
