The date was September 21st in the Barmer district of Rajasthan. The morning was shattered by cries originating from a house in Undu village, under the jurisdiction of the Shiv police station. Locals, drawn by the sound, discovered a young man’s lifeless body inside. The man’s girlfriend was found beside him, distraught and weeping. She questioned his actions, asking why he had left her. The scene was deeply emotional for all who witnessed it.
The deceased, Shaukat Khan, was 22 years old. The girlfriend, who was 19, was overcome with grief. Shaukat’s brother, Jumma Khan, also arrived, deeply affected by the loss. The police were immediately notified. Upon their arrival, they secured Shaukat’s body and sent it for a post-mortem.
An investigation commenced. The girlfriend stated that she was cooking when she went to call Shaukat but found the door locked. Looking through the window, she saw him hanging. She immediately informed Shaukat’s brother. She stated she did not know why Shaukat took such a drastic step.
The deceased’s girlfriend is from Jharkhand. Jumma Khan revealed that he and Shaukat were furniture workers. Shaukat brought his girlfriend to stay with them some time ago. She had been living with them since. Everything seemed normal, and Shaukat would share any concerns with him. Jumma Khan was informed of his brother’s death by his girlfriend.
Neighbors reported that the girlfriend’s family visited around 10 days before to take her home. She chose to stay with Shaukat and refused to leave with them. They subsequently left. SI Jalaram of the Shiv police station stated that Shaukat Khan, a resident of Sangad Ola village, lived with his girlfriend and brother Jumma Khan in a rented house in Undu village. The case is under investigation, and the police are trying to determine the reason for the apparent suicide.
