Jharkhand’s opposition leader, Babulal Marandi, has leveled a grave charge against the state government, accusing it of manufacturing new criminal incidents to mask ongoing illegal activities. According to Marandi, the administration and its associated systems have developed a pattern of fabricating offenses to cover up actual crimes. Recent ED investigations into the deep-rooted ‘black empire’ of coal in Dhanbad have exposed shocking details. More disturbingly, it’s reported that certain ‘high-ranking police officers,’ allegedly enriched by the proceeds of illegal coal trade, have issued ‘targets’ to eliminate their lower-level enforcers from the coal mafia. This alleged conspiracy aims to prevent witnesses being questioned by the ED from revealing crucial information. Marandi warned that this tactic echoes historical instances in the state where evidence was ‘encountered’ to prevent justice. He recalled a former DGP facing allegations of contract killings and unprecedented corruption, even from within the ruling coalition. The opposition leader advised the ED to be highly vigilant, stating that the state prioritizes suppressing truth over revealing it. He concluded that when political power, administrative machinery, and organized crime converge, the demise of justice is an inevitable outcome.
