Aditya Sahu, a Rajya Sabha member, has been appointed as the working president of the BJP’s Jharkhand unit. Sahu acknowledged the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, emphasizing his commitment to the party and the nation. He affirmed his dedication to serving the BJP with integrity.
The appointment was made by BJP National President JP Nadda. Sahu takes over from Ravindra Kumar Rai, who was given the charge last October, preceding the state assembly elections. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha secured victory, defeating the BJP-led NDA. Sahu’s nomination to the Rajya Sabha occurred in 2022, and he was elected without opposition.
The swift replacement of Ravindra Kumar Rai within a year highlights the BJP’s focus on restructuring its state unit and reinforcing its organizational presence in the eastern region. Sahu expressed gratitude to PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, JP Nadda, and other leaders. During a speech in Ranchi, Sahu stated, “I have been associated with the BJP since 1980, and I will continue to serve the party with honesty, commitment, and dedication. The party and national interest will always be my priority.”
At the party’s state office in Ranchi, numerous party leaders welcomed Aditya Sahu. He expressed appreciation for the confidence placed in him by the national president and vowed to meet the expectations set. Sahu shared memories of his early days, including his involvement in distributing election slips in 1980 when he was a high school student. He recalled the challenges of that time and the dedication required. He later served as a district vice-president and held several positions within the organization, including two terms as the general secretary for Jharkhand. Now, he embraces his role as the working state president. The appointment of Aditya Sahu, an OBC leader, is a strategic move by the BJP to secure the OBC vote bank in Jharkhand. Sahu, from Kunchu village in Ranchi, has a long-standing association with the BJP. He is currently a BJP Rajya Sabha MP and has prior experience teaching.
