The police have apprehended Premchand Sahu, the individual accused of murdering Saraswati Kumari, a minor girl who was in a live-in relationship in Kumang village, Tapkara police station area. The arrest took place on Saturday night. Inspector Ashok Kumar Singh, Torpa Zone, and Tapkara Police Station in-charge Nitesh Kumar Gupta announced the arrest during a press conference at Torpa police station on Sunday. The accused, Premchand Sahu, is a resident of Malgo village in the Lapung police station area of Ranchi. Police received intelligence that Premchand Sahu was attempting to flee on a motorcycle. Following the information, a raid was conducted, and he was arrested within the Torpa police station area. During questioning, the accused admitted to the murder of Saraswati Kumari. The knife used in the crime, the motorcycle, a bag and a mobile phone were recovered based on his statements. The raid was carried out by a team including Torpa Circle Police Inspector Ashok Kumar Singh, Torpa Police Station in-charge Mukesh Kumar Hemberam, Tapkara Police Station in-charge Nitesh Kumar Gupta, SI Shyamal Kumbhkar, and armed forces from the Torpa and Tapkara police stations. He has been placed in judicial custody. The Tapkara police in-charge refuted claims circulating on social media that the accused Premchand Sahu had escaped while handcuffed and was later caught after three hours, stating that the reports were unfounded.
