The Manipur government has taken decisive action by suspending internet and mobile data services in five districts for five days, starting from June 7, 2025, at 11:45 PM. This includes VSAT and VPN services in Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Kakching, and Bishnupur. The move is a direct response to the prevailing law and order situation. The government’s Home Department cited concerns about the potential for social media to be used to spread inflammatory content and incite unrest. The order emphasizes the need to maintain peace and public order within the state. District authorities have also imposed restrictions, including curfews and limitations on public gatherings, to maintain control. Complete curfew has been implemented in Bishnupur district to manage the situation.
