The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, has urged the Union Home Minister Amit Shah to recommend a CBI investigation into the disappearance of Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife Sonam, residents of Indore. The couple was reported missing in Shillong, Meghalaya, last month. Tragically, Raja’s body was discovered, but Sonam is still missing. Chief Minister Yadav, expressing solidarity with Sonam’s family, has been in communication with the Chief Minister of Meghalaya and has dispatched senior police officials to coordinate with Meghalaya authorities. The request for a CBI inquiry follows a letter from Raja Raghuvanshi’s family to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The family is seeking justice after Raja’s remains were found in a gorge near Cherrapunji, Meghalaya. The couple was last heard from on May 23, during their honeymoon, and their phones subsequently went off. Raja’s brother, Vipul Raghuvanshi, emphasized the family’s appeal for a CBI probe to ensure justice for Raja and to assist in the search for Sonam. Meghalaya’s Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has conveyed his condolences and promised all measures to resolve the case.
