A new chapter in India’s defense aviation history has been written with the successful maiden flight of the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas Mk1A. This pivotal event occurred at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited’s (HAL) Nashik base, amplifying the ‘Make in India’ campaign’s success. The advanced fighter jet, fresh from its inaugural flight, received a celebratory water cannon salute, recognizing this significant step forward in indigenous aerospace production.
The successful test flight was complemented by the inauguration of HAL’s third dedicated production line for the Tejas Mk1A. Additionally, the second production line for the Hindustan Turbo Trainer-40 (HTT-40), a vital indigenous basic trainer aircraft for the Indian Air Force (IAF), was also commissioned. These new facilities are crucial for ramping up production to meet the IAF’s growing demands.
