The relationship between Donald Trump and Pakistani figures has become a topic of interest. India, represented by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, has responded to the growing closeness between the US and Pakistan, attributing it to self-serving motives.
Jaishankar’s remarks referenced historical precedents, implying Pakistan’s tendency towards duplicity and the US’s propensity to exploit situations. The support that Trump has given to Munir has started to reveal its consequences.
The recent actions by Munir, including the passage of legislation granting broad military powers and the persecution of political opponents, demonstrate his tightening control. Former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s relatives have been imprisoned as a part of this.
Moreover, Munir has furthered an anti-India agenda, including an effort to influence Bangladesh, with a Pakistani envoy dispatched to that country.
Jaishankar questioned the US’s stance, given its professed commitment to democracy, and hinted that Trump’s focus on personal interests might be clouding his judgment. He reiterated that India doesn’t see this friendship as a threat.
Jaishankar referenced historical dynamics between the US and Pakistan, including the US’s overlooking certain actions by Pakistan. He pointed out the past hosting of Osama bin Laden in Pakistan and the implications of this fact.
During a press conference, Jaishankar noted that many nations placed calls during Operation Sindoor, but emphasized that India doesn’t approve of any mediation concerning its relationship with Pakistan.
In his speech, Jaishankar has sent a response to both Pakistan and the US, but Munir is pushing forward. His strategy includes domestic repression, anti-India terrorism, and leveraging trade as a means of influence, specifically aiming to gain control over Bangladesh through oil deals.
Pakistan is working to utilize Bangladesh for its agenda, with Pakistan’s Deputy PM visiting to hold meetings with officials and leaders, including those from groups with a history of terrorist ties. The plan is to establish Bangladesh as a center for terrorism and anti-India activities.
It includes increasing ISI networks in Bangladesh, attempting to create a terrorist haven, and attempting to replace the Bangladeshi army chief. The Bangladeshi journalist claims that this plot was planned in the US. Munir proposed that in return for the control of Bangladesh’s foreign policy, Trump would get the mineral resources.
India will not be pressured by any foreign powers. Jaishankar stated that India will not compromise on farmers’ interests. India is not obligated to buy oil from anyone. He believes that Trump’s approach is different from the norm and has warned that no pressure will work against India.
