A message from jail reveals that AAP MLA Mehraj Malik, held under the Public Safety Act, has appealed to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. Spokesperson Appu Singh Slathia shared that the MLA requested the CM to visit Doda district, his constituency, to evaluate the flood’s impact. Malik, detained in Kathua jail, also voiced worries about the frequent disruptions on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, which he claims have inflicted significant financial setbacks on apple producers. Furthermore, the MLA, who is also the Jammu and Kashmir AAP President, emphasized that the state’s economy significantly relies on the apple industry and horticulture, and that these sectors have faced substantial challenges because of highway closures. Malik was arrested on September 8th, charged with disrupting public order in Doda, and is presently incarcerated under the PSA.
