The investigation into the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi during his honeymoon in Meghalaya has taken a new turn as his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, denies any involvement. She was apprehended at a dhaba on the Varanasi-Ghazipur road. Following her arrest, Sonam claimed she had been kidnapped and was not involved in her husband’s death. Her family has strongly supported her, with her father expressing his belief in her innocence.
Authorities in Meghalaya have stated that Sonam is suspected of planning the murder in Sohra. Raja Raghuvanshi was allegedly killed by hired individuals. Sonam was later found in Ghazipur, and three alleged accomplices have been arrested. These individuals, Raj Singh Kushwaha, Akash Rajput, and Vishal Singh Chauhan, were apprehended in night raids. Sonam is now in police custody, and extradition proceedings are underway. The arrested men have been remanded to Meghalaya. Raja’s body was found near Weisawdong Falls. The couple had been married on May 11 and vanished on May 23 after leaving a homestay near where the body was discovered. Evidence found at the scene included clothing, medication, and a smartwatch.
