Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, declared on Saturday his intention to communicate all details concerning the inquiry into the death of singer Zubeen Garg solely through Facebook Live. This decision aims to prevent misinterpretations, as he believes media outlets often present specific segments of press conferences tailored to their audiences, potentially causing public confusion. The Chief Minister emphasized his commitment to direct engagement with the public, stating that any information pertaining to Garg’s death and the ongoing investigation would be disseminated exclusively through Facebook Live. He cited instances where media coverage resulted in selective editing, leading to unnecessary public stress. The announcement followed the Chief Minister’s earlier declaration, made via Facebook Live on Friday, of a judicial commission to probe Zubeen Garg’s demise. Upon arrival in Guwahati, the Chief Minister visited Zubeen Garg’s wife, Garima, at her residence in Kahilipara. Earlier, Zubeen’s wife had returned the post-mortem report to the police, asserting it wasn’t a personal document and its release should be determined by investigators. Zubeen Garg tragically passed away under mysterious circumstances while swimming in Singapore on September 19. He was in Singapore for the fourth Northeast India Festival, organized by Shyamkanu Mahanta and his company. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the CID, comprising nine members, is currently investigating the circumstances of Zubeen’s death in Singapore. CM Sarma clarified that the Assam Police is unable to travel to Singapore for the investigation. He indicated that until the concerned parties come forward, establishing crucial links remains challenging.
