The monsoon is predicted to gain momentum across different parts of India in the coming days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted exceptionally heavy rainfall across Northwest, Central, East, and Northeast India over the next week. Significant downpours are anticipated in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh on June 30th, 2025.
Delhi, which has faced extreme heat since the start of June, may see a shift in weather patterns soon. The Met Department has issued a yellow alert for rain on Sunday and Monday. Parts of Delhi/NCR experienced heavy showers on Saturday evening, providing residents with some relief.
The IMD’s recent statement indicates favorable conditions for the further progress of the Southwest monsoon across the country within the next two days. Warnings have been issued for heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh from June 28th to July 4th; Punjab, Haryana & Chandigarh from June 29th to July 2nd; West Rajasthan on July 3rd and 4th; and East Rajasthan from July 1st to 4th. Residents should be prepared for wet weather.
Other regions under alert include Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand & Odisha from June 29th to July 4th; Vidarbha on July 1st and 2nd; Andaman & Nicobar Islands on June 29th; Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim from June 30th to July 2nd; Gangetic West Bengal from June 29th to July 1st; and Bihar from June 29th to July 4th.
