Authorities in Surat, Gujarat, have arrested four individuals, including a husband, in connection with the gang-rape and attempted murder of a woman. The incident stemmed from the husband’s suspicion of an extramarital affair. The victim, a 35-year-old woman, was initially attacked by her husband, Ganesh Rajput, and later subjected to a gang-rape orchestrated by Rajput and his friend Prince Kumar, 22.
The assault began on July 24 when Rajput allegedly attacked his wife with a hammer and a knife. The following day, the victim was taken to a rented room and subjected to a brutal gang-rape. In a further attempt to eliminate the evidence, Rajput enlisted the help of two additional accomplices, Vijay alias Kachyo Ishwarbhai Rathod, 29, and Appa Jagannath Waghmare, 39, who disposed of the victim’s body in the Tapi River, after tying her up. Despite this, the woman survived and sought help from the police at the Kapodara police station.
Police have registered a case of gang rape and attempted murder, leading to the arrest of the four suspects. Investigations have revealed that the prime suspect, Ganesh Rajput, has a significant criminal history, with 26 cases registered against him in Surat.
