Tragedy struck the Oberoi Square complex in Goregaon East, Mumbai, on Thursday when a 17-year-old girl died by suicide after falling from the 23rd floor. This heartbreaking event marks the fourth suicide within the complex in just six months. The Aarey police are investigating the incident and have registered an accidental death report. No suicide note was discovered in the girl’s room.
According to police sources, the deceased was suffering from depression and receiving medical care. She lived with her family on the 23rd floor of the Oberoi building, C Wing. The girl was a Class 11 student; her father worked in the construction sector.
The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon while the girl was studying in her room. Her mother and grandparents were present at home, and her father was at work. At approximately 3:30 p.m., she reportedly jumped from her bedroom window. Her family confirmed that she had been struggling with depression for several years and was undergoing treatment at Ambani Hospital.
The Oberoi complex is now facing scrutiny due to the disturbing trend of suicides among its residents. Four such incidents have been reported from different buildings within the complex in the last half-year.
