The Goa court has issued an order barring AAP MP Sanjay Singh from making any statements against Sulakshana Sawant, the wife of Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. The ruling comes as a result of a defamation case filed by Sawant, a BJP member, against Singh, where she is seeking ₹100 crore in damages. The case stems from allegations of corruption made by Singh.
The interim order, delivered by Ad-Hoc Civil Judge (Senior Division) Anuradha Andrade of Bicholim, specifically prohibits Sanjay Singh, along with his associates and supporters, from making statements that could damage Sulakshana Sawant’s image. The court’s directive will remain in effect until a final decision is made in the case.
Sulakshana Sawant’s complaint accuses Sanjay Singh of making false and unsubstantiated claims with the aim of tarnishing her and her family’s reputation. Singh, in a press conference held in Delhi on December 4th, alleged that jobs in Goa were being sold and named the Chief Minister’s wife, state ministers, and their close associates as being involved.
Surel Tilve, Sanjay Singh’s lawyer, confirmed that an affidavit was submitted to the court, stating that his client will not make any further statements on the matter until the case is concluded. The legal team plans to assess the possibility of an appeal once they receive a copy of the court order.
