The ancient martial art of Gatka is set to be a part of the Pythian Cultural Games, with international competitions planned for next year in Moscow. Bijender Goel, Chairman of the Pythian Council of India, confirmed this news at the 12th National Gatka Championship in New Delhi. Goel emphasized support for the World Gatka Federation, Asian Gatka Federation, and the National Gatka Association of India (NGAI) to promote Gatka globally. At the event, Shantanu Agrahari, President of the Pythian Council, shared insights on the Pythian Games. Delhi MLA Jarnail Singh praised Gatka as a promising sport and self-defense method, while also distributing awards to winning players. Dr. Tejinderpal Singh Nalwa, President of the Asian Gatka Federation, along with Harjeet Singh Grewal, President of the NGAI, highlighted this inclusion as another step towards Gatka’s recognition, building upon its presence in national sports platforms. The event saw the presence of numerous notable figures.
