Authorities have brought fugitive criminal Lakhvinder Kumar, an alleged associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi crime syndicate, back to India from the United States. Kumar arrived on Indian soil on October 25, 2025, and was swiftly arrested at Delhi Airport by a Haryana Police team. This successful extradition is part of India’s intensified global efforts to bring wanted criminals to justice.
Accused of serious offenses such as extortion, intimidation, illegal arms possession, and attempted murder in Haryana, Kumar had been evading law enforcement. The CBI played a pivotal role by coordinating the issuance of an INTERPOL Red Notice in October 2024, which was instrumental in tracking Kumar in the U.S. and securing his deportation. As India’s nodal agency for INTERPOL, the CBI worked closely with U.S. authorities via the BHARATPOL system, ensuring a smooth and efficient extradition process. This latest recovery brings the total number of wanted individuals repatriated to India to over 130, demonstrating a strong commitment to dismantling transnational criminal networks. The Bishnoi gang, led by Lawrence Bishnoi, has been implicated in numerous high-profile crimes across northern India and has international connections.
