Devendra Fadnavis, the Deputy CM of Maharashtra, has made it clear that the state government will not allow any form of aggression or violence under the guise of promoting the Marathi language. He stated that while Marathi pride is encouraged, actions like assaulting individuals based on language will not be tolerated. Fadnavis confirmed that law enforcement has already intervened in a relevant incident, and future occurrences will be met with legal repercussions. He also pointed out the irony of language disputes, especially when some readily adopt English. Other political figures, including Minister Yogesh Kadam and Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray, have also spoken out, advocating for the respect of the Marathi language and the avoidance of any form of violence or taking law into one’s own hands.
