Male senior citizens are being targeted by honey-trap gangs seeking to extort money through blackmail and false accusations. The initial contact frequently involves a missed phone call intended to capture the recipient’s interest. A recent incident in Gurugram details the experience of a wealthy, anonymous man in his 60s. The victim received a call, and was subsequently befriended by two women. They later lured the man into a compromising position and then demanded money, threatening to file a rape case. The victim’s family sought legal counsel and filed a police complaint. The police gathered evidence in the form of call records and recordings, leading to the arrest of three people. The case underscores the importance of caution and the value of preserving evidence when dealing with such threats. The final demand was reduced to Rs 6.5 lakhs.
