Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s ‘X’ account was hacked on Sunday, with hackers posting images of the Pakistani and Turkish flags. The account has since been secured. The incident raised concerns among followers and political figures.
Shinde’s office reported that a technical team promptly recovered the account. It is now fully restored and functioning as usual.
The hackers also live-streamed content featuring Pakistan and Turkish flags. This occurred on the day of the second India-Pakistan Asia Cup match. Officials immediately notified the cybercrime police. The team managing the Deputy CM’s X handle then retrieved the account, which took about 30 to 45 minutes.
The technical team swiftly regained control and restored security to the account. It is now completely secure and operational. Authorities confirmed that no sensitive information was compromised during the hack.
The incident highlights cybersecurity weaknesses. The posting of the flags triggered a reaction from followers. The Maharashtra Cyber Cell will investigate to identify the perpetrators. The rise in hacking and cybercrime in India leads to significant financial losses for the nation annually.
