The Delhi Metro will provide early morning services on August 15th to accommodate those attending the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort. Metro services will begin at 4:00 AM, according to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). Trains will run every half hour from all terminal stations on all lines between 4:00 AM and 6:00 AM. Regular metro services will resume after 6:00 AM.
The Ministry of Defence will provide special QR tickets for access to the Red Fort ceremony to those with original invitation letters. These tickets will cover travel to and from the venue, and the Delhi Metro will be reimbursed for the cost.
Delhi Traffic Police have altered some routes near the Red Fort. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has also made arrangements to help passengers.
Heightened security measures have been put in place on the Delhi Metro for the Independence Day celebrations. The DMRC has warned that long queues are possible at some stations, particularly during peak hours, and these could continue until August 15th. Passengers are urged to plan their travel accordingly and factor in extra time.
Preparations for Independence Day are in full swing, including a full dress rehearsal at the Red Fort on Wednesday. The early start to metro services is designed to make it easier for people to reach the Red Fort and other venues where special events are planned.
