The Vijayadashami celebrations in Delhi-NCR were heavily affected by torrential rain. Many were eager to witness the traditional Ravan Dahan, but the downpour caused significant disruption. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Ravan Dahan program was cancelled as a result of the rain. Thousands of people had already arrived at the Ramlila grounds, only to be disappointed by the weather.
President Droupadi Murmu participated in the Vijayadashami celebrations at the Shri Dharmik Lila Committee event held at the Red Fort grounds in Delhi. She symbolically fired an arrow to ignite the effigy of Ravana. President Murmu remarked that humanity flourishes through the triumph of good and that Operation Sindoor by the Indian Army symbolized the victory of humanity over the Ravana of terrorism. She also honored and expressed gratitude to every warrior who protects India.
Former Congress President Sonia Gandhi was also unable to attend the Vijayadashami program due to the rain. She was scheduled to participate in the Ravan Dahan ceremony at the Nav Shri Dharmik Ramlila at the Red Fort, but had to cancel her appearance. Similarly, Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s planned attendance at the Vijayadashami celebrations in Pitampura was also affected, as the pandal became waterlogged.
