A BJP spokesperson, Printu Mahadev, is at the center of a controversy after making threatening remarks against Rahul Gandhi during a television debate in Kerala. The Congress party has reacted strongly, demanding immediate legal action against Mahadev and has written to Home Minister Amit Shah. They contend that the comments, which included a threat of violence, warrant a criminal investigation. If action is not taken, the Congress believes it indicates a government-backed conspiracy.
Mahadev, a former leader in the ABVP (the RSS’s student wing), is now a BJP spokesperson. His controversial statement was made during a discussion on a Malayalam TV channel about the Ladakh violence. He reportedly stated that Rahul Gandhi should be shot.
The Congress Working Committee (CWC) has supported the demand for a case to be filed against Mahadev. Ramesh Chennithala, a CWC member, criticized the Kerala police for hesitating to act, implying collusion between the BJP and the CPI(M). K.C. Venugopal, the Congress General Secretary, argued that such remarks from a ruling party spokesperson pose an immediate threat to Rahul Gandhi’s life and undermine fundamental rights. He also highlighted that the CRPF, responsible for Gandhi’s security, had previously issued warnings about potential threats.
