In response to the ‘I Love Mohammad’ trend, the Congress party has launched its own campaign with the slogan ‘I Love Constitution.’ Hoardings promoting this message have been displayed outside the Congress office in Lucknow. The posters include images of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and other prominent party figures. The posters were placed by Congress leader Abdullah Sherkhan. The ‘I Love Mohammad’ controversy has sparked numerous trends on social media. Counter-campaigns, such as ‘I Love Mahadev,’ ‘I Love Mahakal,’ and ‘I Love Ram,’ have also emerged. Campaigns in support and opposition are ongoing in states including Uttarakhand, Telangana, and Maharashtra. The initial incident, which initiated this controversy, occurred in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, on September 4th, subsequently spreading to several other states. The dispute originated during a Barawafat procession in Kanpur’s Rawatpur area. A light board declaring ‘I Love Mohammad’ was installed, associated with the celebration of Eid Milad-un-Nabi. The Muslim perspective on the situation is that ‘I love Mohammad’ is an expression of faith, not a criminal act. In Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, controversial slogans were chanted. Protests and slogans also took place in Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, and Telangana, while similar incidents were reported in Gujarat. The Hindu perspective is that the display of banners was intended to provoke, and local Hindu organizations have criticized the move, labeling it a disruption to communal harmony.
