The world is gearing up to observe the 11th International Yoga Day on June 21, 2025, under the theme ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health,’ as stated by Chhattisgarh Finance Minister OP Choudhary. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his efforts in propelling yoga onto the global stage. Choudhary said that the yoga-based economy has grown to over ₹20,000 crore, and over 100,000 certified yoga teachers are now disseminating knowledge of Yoga worldwide. The minister cited recent surveys showing the widespread adoption of yoga within Indian households, demonstrating its vital role in daily life. He highlighted yoga as a key practice for promoting a healthy lifestyle, as well as India’s rich cultural heritage. He also pointed out the scientific reasoning behind celebrating Yoga Day on the longest day of the year. The minister spoke of the ancient origins of yoga and the transformation led by Maharishi Patanjali, which standardized it as a lifestyle. The Finance Minister concluded by noting that the proposal to establish International Yoga Day was unanimously passed by the United Nations General Assembly, with support from 175 nations. BJP leaders like Sanjay Srivastava also emphasized the importance of yoga in our contemporary lives and the BJP’s participation in Yoga Day celebrations.
