Raipur, July 22, 2025/ The work of farming is going on rapidly in the state. So far, sowing of various crops including paddy, maize, kodo, kutki, arhar, moong, groundnut, ramtil has been done in 36.42 lakh hectare area, which is 75 percent of the target. The state government has set a target of sowing in 48.85 lakh hectare area in this Kharif season.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has directed the concerned officers to provide all necessary assistance to the farmers to provide facilities in farming. He has also asked them to distribute certified fertilizers and seeds to the farmers as per their demand. Under the guidance of Agriculture Development and Farmer Welfare Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam, the officers of the Agriculture Department are constantly monitoring these. So far, 10.20 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizers and 7.22 lakh quintals of certified seeds have been distributed to the farmers of the state. As on July 21, 2025, an average rainfall of 446.1 mm has been recorded in the state, while the average annual rainfall of the state is 1238.7 mm.
The officials of the Agriculture Department said that a target of distribution of 4.95 lakh quintals of certified seeds has been set in the state for Kharif 2025, in which 7.88 lakh quintals of seeds have been stored from all sources and so far 7.22 lakh quintals of seeds have been distributed to the farmers, which is 146 percent of the demand. While in the Kharif year 2024, 4.64 lakh quintals of certified seeds were distributed by the Seed Corporation in the state.
Similarly, a target of distribution of 14.62 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizers has been set in the state in this Kharif season. Against the said target, 13.78 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizers have been stored in cooperative and private sectors. Against the said storage, 10.20 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizers have been distributed to the farmers, which is 70 percent of the target.
The officials of the Agriculture Department said that instructions have also been given to take strict action on any kind of irregularities in the fertilizer-seed distribution system. Along with this, it has been said to store sufficient fertilizer-seeds in the societies and keep continuous monitoring.
