At the Virat Sanskrit Vidvat-Sammelan in Raipur on September 7, 2025, Chhattisgarh’s Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai delivered a speech emphasizing the vital role of Sanskrit in India’s cultural identity. He described Sanskrit as the essence of Indian culture, which gives India a unique recognition worldwide. The Chief Minister stated that Sanskrit is the bedrock of grammar, philosophy, and scientific thought, and it fosters logical reasoning. He also pointed out the enduring value of Sanskrit education in today’s world, noting that the language and its literature are fundamental to our heritage, deserving both preservation and expansion. The conference, he said, was aimed at strengthening Indian culture, traditions, and the nation through discussion about the divine language. He commended the efforts of Sanskrit Bharati Chhattisgarh and Sarayupareen Brahmin Sabha Chhattisgarh for their work in the preservation and promotion of Sanskrit.
CM Sai also highlighted that incorporating Sanskrit into contemporary education would significantly aid students’ intellectual development. He mentioned the immense collection of knowledge in Sanskrit texts like the Vedas, Upanishads, and Puranas, which impart wisdom on philosophy, science, and values. He emphasized the continued relevance of ancient Vedic sciences such as Ayurveda, mathematics, and astrology, as potential areas of research, with concepts of karma, knowledge, and devotion being clearly articulated, offering pathways to balance in modern life. Therefore, Sanskrit education remains as relevant and essential now as it has been historically.
He further urged the importance of inspiring youth to engage with Sanskrit literature, so they can ensure the preservation of this heritage by sharing it with the upcoming generations. He also said that incorporating technology can help make Sanskrit education more engaging and relevant. Furthermore, he stressed that tangible steps in this direction can be facilitated by the active involvement of Sanskrit scholars and educators. He urged participants of the conference to pledge to advance Sanskrit education and connect the next generation with this profound knowledge.
In the event, CM Sai released a promotional brochure by Sarayupareen Brahmin Sabha, Chhattisgarh. The Virat Sanskrit Vidvat-Sammelan was jointly organized by Sanskrit Bharati Chhattisgarh and Sarayupareen Brahmin Sabha Chhattisgarh.
Dr. Dadu Bhai Tripathi, the State President of Sanskrit Bharati, addressed the gathering and mentioned historical evidence of Sanskrit once being a common language. He highlighted the direct link between the Chhattisgarhi language and Sanskrit, pointing out that many elements of Panini’s grammar are used in the local dialect. He also noted that the Surguja region has the highest number of tribal students studying Sanskrit.
During the event, CM Sai felicitated individuals from the Sarayupareen Brahmin Samaj for their outstanding contributions in various fields. Among those honored were Dr. Ashlesha Shukla, a specialist in arthritis, Anant Dwivedi, an accomplished swimmer, and Prof. Sachchidanand Shukla, the Vice-Chancellor of Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University.
The conference also featured speeches from Dandi Swami Dr. Indubhavanand Maharaj, Dr. Suresh Shukla, President of Sarayupareen Brahmin Sabha Chhattisgarh, and Dr. Shriram Mahadev, the head of teaching at All India Sanskrit Bharati. The event was also attended by Dr. Satendra Singh Sengar, Ajay Tiwari, Badrprasad Gupta, as well as a large number of Sanskrit teachers, social figures, and other dignitaries.
