Raipur, September 08, 2025/ Today, a delegation of UNICEF India had a courtesy meeting with Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai at Mahanadi Bhawan, the secretariat. The delegation appreciated the work being done by the state government towards building a developed Chhattisgarh and expressed its commitment to provide technical assistance from UNICEF.
Welcoming the cooperation of UNICEF India, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai said that UNICEF is making significant contributions in various fields for public welfare around the world. He said that Chhattisgarh will benefit from UNICEF’s technical expertise. The Chief Minister shared the government’s priorities under the Anjor Vision 2047 document with the delegation.
The UNICEF delegation briefed the Chief Minister on the progress of the work being done by UNICEF in Chhattisgarh. Ms. Soledad Herrero, Head of Field Services, UNICEF India, appreciated the state’s nutrition-related initiatives and efforts being made towards the construction of “Developed Chhattisgarh”.
Ms. Herrero said that the Mahtari Vandan Yojana is a big step towards the empowerment of women. She said that UNICEF is also providing assistance in the Hamar Swasth Lika program in Chhattisgarh, which has yielded very positive results. This initiative is also being adopted by other states like Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Odisha.
Chief Minister Shri Sai appreciated the contribution made by UNICEF India in Chhattisgarh and discussed in detail the possibilities of technical cooperation in various fields in the future, keeping in mind the goals of Anjor Vision 2047. He said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has called for building a developed India by 2047. In the same vein, the Chhattisgarh government is also committed to the construction of a developed Chhattisgarh and the Anjor Vision 2047 document has been prepared for this.
The Chief Minister said that under Anjor Vision 2047, the upliftment of the tribal community, especially the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs), is one of the government’s top priorities. UNICEF’s cooperation will be very important in improving indicators of health and nutrition, including infant mortality rate and malnutrition. The Chief Minister also discussed the importance of better health and education for the empowerment of adolescent girls.
On this occasion, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Subodh Kumar Singh, Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Rahul Bhagat, Secretary, Women and Child Development Department Smt. Shammi Abidi, Health Secretary Shri Amit Kataria, Head of UNICEF Chhattisgarh Shri William Hanlon Junior and Dr. Bal Paritosh Das were also present.
