The University Grants Commission (UGC) has taken action against 54 private universities situated in various states for failing to comply with regulations. These institutions have neither submitted required information to the UGC, as mandated by Section 13 of the UGC Act, 1956, nor made it publicly available on their websites. Among the universities cited are three from Chhattisgarh: Anjanya University, Raipur; Dev Sanskriti University, Sankara Kumhari; and Maharishi Management and Technology University, Bilaspur.
In June 2024, the UGC issued a directive to all higher education institutions, instructing them to upload Public Self-Disclosure information on their homepage for the benefit of students and their guardians. Furthermore, the institutions were obligated to submit essential documents in a specified format for inspection purposes. Despite the instructions, the listed universities did not adhere to the guidelines, which has increased the possibility of regulatory actions being taken. The commission had sent several reminders via email and virtual meetings before publicly identifying these universities due to a lack of response.
