There will be no shortage of resources for the development of tribal areas – Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai
The budget of the Central Tribal Development Authority has been increased from Rs 50 crore to Rs 75 crore
Raipur/ The meeting of the Central Tribal Development Authority was held today in the Korba Collectorate meeting room under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai. Chief Minister Shri Sai said that after the restructuring of the Central Tribal Development Authority, this first meeting is being held with a new resolution and approach. He said that the government is taking all concrete steps for the welfare and overall development of the tribal community. There will be no shortage of resources for development works.
Chief Minister Shri Sai announced to increase the budget amount of the authority from Rs 50 crore to Rs 75 crore for the better development of the Scheduled Tribe community residing under the Central Zone.
Restructuring of authorities to ensure accountability and transparency
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the Chhattisgarh government has taken strong steps in the direction of inclusive development by forming the Bastar, Sarguja and Central Zone Tribal Development Authorities, along with the Scheduled Caste Development Authority and Chhattisgarh State Rural and Other Backward Classes Development Authorities. He said that the objective of these authorities is to accelerate development works in tribal areas, ensure transparency and deliver public facilities to every village, every family. Due to the lax working of the previous government, there was a lack of transparency and accountability in the works of the authorities. Due to lack of monitoring, many schemes could not be implemented on the ground. Our government has restructured the authorities to change this situation.
The number of members has been increased to make representation in the authority more extensive. Now the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha MPs of the authority area, Zilla Panchayat President and other important public representatives have been made its members. In addition, it has been decided to nominate two social workers and experts working in the field of tribal development as members of the authority, so that their experience and expertise can benefit the development schemes.
PM Janman Yojana has opened new possibilities
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the government is giving special emphasis on implementing special schemes for tribal communities in the fields of education, health and livelihood. The Dharti Aba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan and PM Janman Yojana, started under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, have opened new possibilities of development in the tribal areas of Chhattisgarh. Under these schemes, the development of basic infrastructure like housing, roads, electricity, water and digital connectivity is being done rapidly. Chief Minister Shri Sai said that emphasis is being given on strengthening self-help groups for the empowerment of tribal women in the Central Zone. Through these groups, initiatives will be taken to provide skill training, loan facilities and connect them to the market so that they can become self-reliant. Technical and vocational training will be provided to the youth of the Central Zone to prepare them for employment and self-employment.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma said that the tribal culture of Chhattisgarh is rich. We have to work towards preserving tribal culture and tradition. The authority will play a major role in the arrangements of nutrition, health, education etc. of the children of Particularly Backward Tribes. He suggested rehabilitation centers, primary education, sports and providing permanent pump connections for irrigation in the fields of farmers of Particularly Backward Tribes to motivate the people of the tribal community to quit alcohol.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao said that the President of the Central Zone Tribal Development Authority, Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai himself has come to Korba to attend the meeting with the entire government. This meeting has not been held since November 30, 2019. The Chief Minister himself is holding a meeting in the scheduled area. This shows his commitment.
Vice President of the Authority Shri Pranav Kumar Marpachhi said that the increase in the budget amount will increase the development works in the tribal dominated area.
Gift of education, sports, tourism and irrigation
Chief Minister Shri Sai made special announcements to hone the talent of tribal children and youth. He sanctioned Rs 10-10 crore for the construction and operation of the boys-girls sports complex in Korba. Similarly, he announced Rs 10-10 crore for two boys-girls sports complexes to hone the talent of players of Particularly Backward Tribes. The Chief Minister also announced the sanction of Rs 5 crore to establish a residential school for students of Particularly Backward Tribes.
Infrastructure and Tourism
Chief Minister Shri Sai announced Rs 9 crore for the construction of the important Sunalia bridge to streamline the movement in Korba city. He directed the forest department officials to work fast on the Buka-Satranga tourism project to promote tourism. He directed the forest department to submit the report within 2 months.
The Chief Minister said that Rs 2,800 crore has been sanctioned to complete 115 incomplete irrigation projects before 2015. On completion of these projects, irrigation facilities will be available in about 76 thousand hectares of land.
Under the Central Zone Tribal Authority, 544 development works worth Rs 32 crore 67 lakh were approved in the year 2021-22, out of which 539 works have been completed. Similarly, out of a total of 491 approved works worth Rs 32 crore 72 lakh in the year 2022-23, 482 works have been completed. Out of a total of 464 approved works worth Rs 32 crore 67 lakh in the year 2023-24, 424 works were completed. Out of a total of 508 approved works worth Rs 48 crore 28 lakh in the year 2024-25, 123 works have been completed and the remaining works are in progress. The Chief Minister directed to complete all the incomplete works soon.
