There is no shortage of fertilizers in Chhattisgarh
Sufficient stock of NPK, SSP and Nano DAP to make up for the shortage of DAP

Raipur, July 14, 2025/ There is no shortage of chemical fertilizers in the state. All types of chemical fertilizers are available in sufficient quantity in cooperative societies and private sale centers for the Kharif season 2025. Considering the shortage in the import of DAP fertilizer due to the global situation, the state government has ensured the arrangement of ample supply and distribution of other chemical fertilizers as an alternative to it.
Keeping in mind that farmers do not face any kind of problem due to the shortage in the supply of DAP in the state, the state government has stored 179000 bottles of Nano DAP, 25 thousand metric tonnes more than the target of NPK fertilizer and 50 thousand metric tonnes more than the fixed target of SSP as an alternative to it. More than 77 thousand metric tonnes of muriate of potash has been stored against the set target of 60 thousand metric tonnes of potash. Nano DAP, which is useful as an alternative to solid DAP for spraying on seeds/tharha, root treatment and standing crops after sowing/transplanting. The government has ensured continuous supply of Nano DAP in the state.
Against the target of 3.10 lakh metric tonnes of DAP fertilizer for the current Kharif season, more than 1 lakh 63 metric tonnes have been stored so far. The supply of DAP is continuing. The state will get a supply of 48 thousand metric tonnes of DAP fertilizer in the month of July. The storage of fertilizers in the cooperative sector of the state has been done on a priority basis. The availability of DAP fertilizer in the cooperative sector of the state is 62 percent of the total availability of the state.
According to the information received from the Department of Agriculture, a total of 13.18 lakh metric tonnes has been stored so far, which is about 38 thousand metric tonnes more than 12.79 lakh metric tonnes stored during the same period last year. This year, 25,266 metric tonnes and 71,363 metric tonnes more than the targeted quantity of NPK and SSP respectively have been stored, which is being used as an alternative to DAP. The state has stored 6 lakh metric tonnes more urea. The remaining quantity of urea will be supplied in July and the coming months.
It is noteworthy that urea is used three times in paddy. The first time at the time of sowing/transplanting, the second time when the kasa comes out, three to four weeks after sowing/transplanting and the third time in the condition of gavhot, 7 to 8 weeks after sowing/transplanting, in this way urea is used by the middle of the month of September. 1.63 lakh metric tonnes of DAP fertilizer has been stored. According to the supply plan of July, the state will get 48 thousand 850 metric tonnes more DAP.
According to the information received from the Department of Agriculture, the supply of 25 thousand tonnes of NPK is expected in the month of July. Including the additional supply of NPK, a total of 22 thousand metric tonnes of DAP will be compensated from an additional 50 thousand 266 metric tonnes of NPK. Similarly, 50 thousand metric tonnes of DAP will be compensated from a total additional supply of 1.47 lakh metric tonnes of SSP. In this way, 72 thousand metric tonnes of DAP will be ensured to be compensated from the additional supply of NPK and SSP in the state.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has said that farmers do not need to worry about the shortage of DAP fertilizer. As an alternative to this, the Chhattisgarh government has ensured sufficient arrangements of other chemical fertilizers like Nano DAP, NPK and SSP. According to the suggestions of agricultural scientists of Indira Agricultural University and officials of the Department of Agriculture, farmers can use the above fertilizers instead of DAP to get better production. Sufficient storage of fertilizers and seeds has been done from the societies according to the demand of the farmers.
