*There is no shortage of alternative fertilizers in Chhattisgarh*
*One lakh bottles of Nano DAP are being stored in cooperative societies*
*Effective initiative of the Chhattisgarh government to overcome the shortage of DAP*
Raipur, July 05, 2025/ Considering the demand for various types of chemical fertilizers during the Kharif season 2025 in the state, the Chhattisgarh government not only ensured its solid arrangement in time but also continuously monitoring the supply, storage and distribution system of chemical fertilizers, due to which the storage and lifting of chemical fertilizers in the state is in a better condition. To overcome the shortage of DAP, the Chhattisgarh government has ensured the availability of alternative fertilizers like NPK, Super Phosphate and Nano DAP, keeping in mind the interests of the farmers. So far, 12.27 lakh metric tonnes of various types of fertilizers have been stored in Chhattisgarh, so that farmers can get adequate fertilizers on time during the Kharif season.
In the state of Chhattisgarh, the target for distribution of a total of 14.62 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizers was previously set in Kharif 2025. This includes urea 7.12 lakh, DAP 3.10 lakh, NPK 1.80 lakh, potash 60 thousand and super phosphate 2 lakh metric tonnes. Currently, a total of 12.27 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizer has been stored. Due to the shortage in the supply of DAP, the target of fertilizer distribution has been revised and a significant increase of 4.62 lakh metric tonnes has been made in the target of other alternative fertilizers like NPK, SSP, due to which the target of distribution of various types of chemical fertilizers in Kharif season 2025 has become 17.18 lakh metric tonnes.
So far, 5.63 lakh metric tonnes of urea has been stored and 3.76 lakh metric tonnes has been distributed in the state. Farmers currently have 1.86 lakh metric tonnes of urea available for distribution. It is noteworthy here that urea is used three times in paddy crop. The first time is 30 percent of the total recommended amount at the time of sowing or transplanting, the second time is 3 to 4 weeks later at the time of emergence of panicles and the third time is 7 to 8 weeks later in the gamhout stage. In this way, urea is to be used in various stages from sowing to September, accordingly, phased supply of urea has been ensured in the state.
Considering the shortage at the national level in the import of DAP, the state government has taken concrete initiatives in the direction of alternative fertilizers in time, due to which the target of NPK has been increased to 4.90 lakh and super phosphate to 3.53 lakh metric tonnes. Currently, NPK 11 thousand and super phosphate 54 thousand metric tonnes are stored more than the target, which will fulfill the phosphate element available in 23 thousand 600 metric tonnes of DAP.
Chhattisgarh state will get a total of 2.33 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizer in the current month of July as per the supply plan. This includes urea 1.25 lakh, DAP 48,850, NPK 34,380, potash 10 thousand and super phosphate 76 thousand metric tonnes. By the end of July, the total storage of DAP is expected to be 1.95 lakh metric tonnes. To prevent the shortage of DAP in the state, a target of additional storage of 25 thousand metric tonnes of super phosphate and 40 thousand metric tonnes of NPK has been set. Also, to promote Nano DAP fertilizer, one lakh bottles are being stored in the cooperative sector, which will meet the requirement of 25 thousand metric tonnes of traditional DAP.
From the month of April, the Chhattisgarh government has prepared posters and pamphlets for the promotion of alternative fertilizers and displayed them in all cooperative societies and procurement centers. Information was given to the farmers about the use of other alternative fertilizers in place of DAP fertilizer. In this series, the farmers were also given training on the scientific use of NPK, super phosphate and nano DAP during the developed Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan by the agricultural scientists and officers of the agriculture department. The Chhattisgarh government is ensuring uninterrupted supply of fertilizers in Kharif 2025 by कुशल management.
