A 17-year-old boy tragically lost his life in a road accident in the Supela area of Bhilai, on Monday night. The accident occurred when the boy was riding a scooter with a friend. They encountered a stray dog, and in an attempt to avoid hitting the animal, the scooter went out of control and crashed. The crash resulted in the scooter plunging into a roadside drain. The rider was killed instantly, while the passenger survived with minor injuries.
The accident happened near Lakdi Taal, within the jurisdiction of the Supela police station. The deceased has been identified as Ronak Dubey. Ronak, along with his friend, was reportedly heading to lock a temple. Seeing a dog crossing the road, Ronak tried to steer the scooter away, but the vehicle overturned due to high speed, hitting the dog before plunging into the drain.
The collision was forceful, causing Ronak to lose control and fall into the drain. He sustained severe head injuries, resulting in his instant death. His friend, who was riding as a passenger, was thrown from the scooter but landed near the drain, suffering minor injuries.
The entire incident was recorded by a CCTV camera installed at a nearby shop. The footage shows local residents rushing to help and attempting to rescue the injured. The video of the accident is circulating widely on social media.
Police reached the scene, took the body for a post-mortem, and began an investigation. Ronak’s sudden death has brought immense grief to his family and community.
