In a significant event, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated a Buddha statue in Mainpat, Surguja district. The event also marked the announcement of development projects worth 30 lakh rupees by the Chhattisgarh government, including road construction and temple infrastructure. CM Sai underscored the historical significance of Buddhist traditions within Chhattisgarh. He affirmed the government’s dedication to fostering development inspired by the values of love, peace, and compassion exemplified by Lord Buddha. During the ceremony at the Hotel Ground complex, the Chief Minister honored the newly installed statue and offered prayers for the prosperity of the state. He expressed his appreciation to the Tibetan community for organizing the event. Highlighting the inclusivity of Chhattisgarh’s culture, he cited Sirpur as an example of the harmonious coexistence of Buddhist, Jain, and Sanatan traditions. He remarked on the global recognition of the Buddha’s teachings, referencing the greetings sent to the Dalai Lama by global leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Chief Minister recognized Mainpat as a key tourism site and expressed the government’s commitment to developing its tourism potential. He mentioned the special incentives available for homestay providers in the region under the new industrial policy. Additionally, CM Sai announced funding for infrastructure projects, including 10 lakh rupees for a CC road and 20 lakh rupees for a temple shed, following a request from the Tibetan Cooperative Society. The event included a tree-planting ceremony and a traditional Tibetan welcome for the Chief Minister. The local community, waving the Indian flag, enthusiastically greeted the Chief Minister, creating a vibrant atmosphere.
